The Bible According To Mechanical Turk Workers

Revelation 18:1-10

Revelation 18:1 - After these things happened I saw yet another angel coming from heaven wielding great power; the earth was bathed in his glory. [Turker's Comment: This last angel lit up the earth.]

Revelation 18:2 - And he shouted loudly, Babylon the great is down, is down, and is now filled with devils and every evil spirit, a container for every ugly and hateful bird.

Revelation 18:3 - All the nations did partake in the wine and wrath of her sex, and the earthly kings themselves laid down with her, and the merchants became rich through her delicacies. [Turker's Comment: I got this one. It's the Whore of Babylon. Duh; the other sentence was probably referring to her, too. Dumb of me not to catch it.]

Revelation 18:4 - A heavenly voice told us to leave the sinful place. [Turker's Comment: The people receive some divine advice about where to live.]

Revelation 18:5 - Word of her sins was heard in heaven, and God remembers them all.

Revelation 18:6 - Be kind to her as she has been kind to you, and reward her for the things she does: in fact give twice as much as you get. [Turker's Comment: do unto others as you would have others do unto you, but do it first!;]

Revelation 18:7 - She will be punished because she is both hedonistic and narcissistic: she says to herself that she is a queen and not a widow and will always be happy. [Turker's Comment: I think the she is referring to Babylon the whore?;]

Revelation 18:8 - She will be tormented all in one day with death, mourning and hunger; and she will be banished to Hell: for God will have his way. [Turker's Comment: Sin and go to hell, don't sin and be rewarded with the kingdom of heaven.]

Revelation 18:9 - The world’s rulers, that have slept with and lived in sin with her, will cry and feel sadness when they learn of her demise. [Turker's Comment: This sentence refers to a woman cavorting in sin with the world's rulers. The smoke of her burning refers to the demise or death of the sinful woman, and the world's rulers will regret her loss.]

Revelation 18:10 - Standing far away because of a fear of torture, she states that the powerful city of Babylon will face judgment in an hour’s time. [Turker's Comment: A statement that a city is about to be judged.]

Revelation 18:11-24

Revelation 18:11 - The earthly merchants will mourn her passing, crying tears over the fact that none shall purchase their wares:; [Turker's Comment: Bit obvious, this one. The defeat of the Whore of Babylon and I guess the collapse of capitalism or something.]

Revelation 18:16 - And saying, that wealthy city is full of citizens wearing fancy clothing and expensive jewelry. [Turker's Comment: There is a city full of wealthy people wearing fancy and garish things.]

Revelation 18:17 - In just a short time great wealth can become nothing. And every ship captain along with his company and sailors, and those who work in the sea, stood a distance away,; [Turker's Comment: The author is describing the way that someone who is rich can be made poor almost instantly.]

Revelation 18:18 - The sight of the smoke made them weep, as they cried out, No other city is like this great city!; [Turker's Comment: People wept as they saw their great city burning and cried out that no other city was like it.]

Revelation 18:19 - And they were very sad saying: The city that made everyone rich has been turned into a ghost town in just a single hour. [Turker's Comment: People are mourning the loss of a great city. I've seen some whack jobs suggest that this refers to 9/11.]

Revelation 18:20 - Be joyful all you Godly heaven, saints, apostle, prophets for God had already given the judgment for her. [Turker's Comment: This phrase is about the judgment of God for her and making the saints, apostles, etc. rejoice for it.]

Revelation 18:21 - And a majestic angel lifted the stone as if it were a large millstone, and threw it into the sea, and said, With the same sort of violence shall Babylon, the great city, be felled, and obliterated so as to seem it never existed,; [Turker's Comment: More Revelations. The threat against Babylon or the entity it symbolically stands in for.]

Revelation 18:22 - The sound of people playing harps, of musicians, of pipers, and those playing trumpets, will no longer be heard in you; and no crafters who do any type of craft shall be found in you anymore, and the sound of someone grinding flour at a mill wiill not be; [Turker's Comment: The city is being judged.]
