7:1 - Don’t assume, because you’ll make an ass out of you and me.
7:2 - However you choose to judge, you will be judged in that way also: and with whatever measure you use, the same measure will be used on you.
7:3 - And why do you judge the faults of another when you don’t even do anything to correct your own faults?
7:4 - Will you tell your comrade, let me take that grain of sand from your eye, when there is a boulder in your own eye?
7:5 - You hypocrite, you must first repent of your own sins; and then you shall be qualified to help your brother deal with his iniquities.
7:6 - As preparation for the nearing Passover, many Jews traveled to Jerusalem to purify themselves.
7:7 - Ask, and you’ll receive, when you look, you’ll find, and when you knock, the door will opened for you.
7:8 - For everyone who asks shall receive; and the person who seeks will find; and the person that knocks will have the door opened.
7:9 - Which of you, if asked by your son for food, would give him a rock?
7:10 - Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a snake?
7:11 - You are a sinner and yet you know how to take good care of your kids. Imagine God as a parent. His gifts will be even better than what sinners can provide.
7:12 - Whatever a man would do to you, you should do to them: that is the law and writings.
7:13 - Go into the path that is right. It is easier to go into the wrong path because it is bigger and wider though it will destroy you. Many people will follow the wrong path.
7:14 - Because the gate is straight, the way to life is narrow, and there are few people who find it.
7:15 - False prophets may come in sheep’s clothing but within are ravening wolves, so beware.
7:16 - You will know them by what they produce. Do people pick grapes from thorns or figs from thistles?
7:17 - Goodness brings goodness. Evil brings evil.
7:18 - A quality plant can’t bear bad apples, nor can an evil tree make good apples.
7:19 - Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire.
7:20 - You will know them by their produce.
7:21 - Not everyone who calls me Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven, only those who do what is commanded by my Father up in heaven.
7:22 - Many people will then say, ‘Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name? And cast out demons in Your name? And do many great things in Your name?’
7:23 - And I will certainly tell them, I never will acknowledge you: leave me, all of you that practice immorality.
7:24 - Whoever can hear me speaking and does as I say, I will accept them to be a wise man that built his life on stability.
7:25 - It rained cats and dogs and the wind blew like crazy, but that house on the rock wasn’t damaged at all.
7:26 - And anyone that hears what I say but doesn’t follow it will seem like a fool who builds his house on sand.
7:27 - And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon that house; and the house fell and was completely destroyed.
7:28 - It came to be that when Jesus finished his sermon the people were amazed at the depth of meaning.
7:29 - And he taught them with the authority of his Father unlike the scribes.
