Matthew 16:1-10

16:1 - Wanting to be shown a sign from Heaven,the Pharisees and Sadducees came to see.

16:2 - He said to them When it is evening, you say, it will be fair weather because the sky is red.

16:3 - In the morning, you predict that the weather will be bad because the sky appears red and lowering. You hypocrites; you can discern the weather, but you can’t see the signs of the times?

16:4 - People who ought to believe and don’t are always looking for a sign but they won’t get a sign, except something will happen that is similar to what happened to Jonah. Then Jesus left.

16:5 - When the disciples visited, they left their bread here.

16:6 - Then Jesus told them, Take heed and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

16:7 - And the talked among themselves, It’s because we didn’t bring along any bread.

16:8 - Jesus said to the people, Why have little faith and fight amongst yourselves because no one brought any bread?

16:9 - Don’t you understand or remember the time when there were five loaves of bread for five thousand people, and how many baskets you took up?

16:10 - Not the seven loaves that fed the four thousand either, and how much was left over?

Matthew 16:11-20

16:11 - How can you not understand that I wasn’t talking about bread when I told you to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees?

16:12 - They they understood why he told them not to be so concerned about leavened bread, but rather about the beliefs of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.

16:13 - When Jesus arrived at the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his followers, Who do people think I am?

16:14 - Elias, Jeremias, and other prophets say that thou art John the Baptist.

16:15 - He asked them who they thought he was.

16:16 - You are Christ, Son of God, answered Simon Peter.

16:17 - Jesus told Simon Barjona, You are blessed. My father in Heaven told me this.

16:18 - Where there is Peter I will build this church upon this rock never to be distorted by the gates of hell.

16:19 - I will give you the keys to the kingdom of Heaven: Whatever you imprison on earth shall be imprisoned in Heaven and whatever you release and let free on earth will be released and let free in Heaven.

16:20 - When given hardship no one should revial that he was Jesus the Christ.

Matthew 16:21-28

16:21 - Jesus explained to his disciples that he must travel to Jerusalem to suffer death at the hands of the elders and chief priests and scribes, but be raised again the third day.

16:22 - Then Peter took him, and corrected him, saying, No way, Lord, this can’t happen to you.

16:23 - He turned and told Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offense unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

16:24 - Jesus told his followers that if any one wanted to follow him, they should let that person do so.

16:25 - Whoever looses his life will find it in the Lord.

16:26 - What good is it for a man to gain everything in the world that he desires, and then lose his own soul? And what wealth is there on earth valuable enough to buy back his soul?

16:27 - When the Son of man returns to Earth in God’s glory, he will reward all people according to what they have done in their lives.

16:28 - I will tell you the truth, Some people will remain here, and they will not die, until they see the Messiah arrive in his kingdom.
