10:1 - And when He had gathered together his twelve followers, He transfered to them power over unclean spirits, enabling them to exorcise such spirits, and power to heal all sorts of illnesses and diseases.
10:2 - These are names of the twelve apostles; Simon, also known as Peter, and his brother Andrew; The two sons of Zebedee, James and his brother John;
10:3 - Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;
10:4 - Simon and Judas both betrayed him.
10:5 - Then Jesus sent twelve in, then told them, said, do not go in front of the Gentiles, and do not go into any city of Samaritans:
10:6 - Instead go forth to those missing from Israel’s fold.
10:7 - Wherever you go, spread the word that the kingdom of heaven is coming.
10:8 - Help those in need and pay it forward.
10:9 - Don’t keep valuables in your purses,
10:10 - Or plan your trip, not two coats, or shoes, because the worker deserves to be fed.
10:11 - In whatever town you go to, find out who the best people are, and stay with them.
10:12 - And, when you come into someone’s house, respect it.
10:13 - If the family is worthy, send them your peace; if not, your peace should be returned to you.
10:14 - Whoever does not receive you or hear your words, when they depart shall shake off the dust of your feet.
10:15 - Sodom and Gomorrah will be judged less harshly than this city will.
10:16 - You see that you will go for me into danger: be clever but kind.
10:17 - Be cautious of these people because they will give you to the courts and they will destroy your reputation in their churches.
10:18 - You will be brought in front of the governors and kings for my sake, to give a testimony against them and the Gentiles.
10:19 - When they deliver you, don’t think about what to say, because you will be told what to say.
10:20 - It’s not you who is talking, but your Father’s spirit who is talking through you.
10:21 - Brother will kill brother, and the father will kill his child; and the children, will kill their parents.
10:22 - You will be hated by all men in my name: but whoever survives till then end will be saved.
10:23 - If they persecute you here, go elsewhere; you will not have traveled all over Israel until the Son of man comes.
10:24 - Followers are not better than their leaders, just as men are not above their god.
10:25 - Is it not plenty enough for the student to become as the teacher, and the slave as his master. If the people have spoken of the man of the house of Beelzebub as a teacher, how high will they call the people of their own households?
10:26 - hence do not fear them: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
10:27 - Listen, I might give you messages in small ways, but it’s up to you to spread them everywhere you can.
10:28 - Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me.
10:29 - Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? Not one shall fall to the ground without the Lord’s knowledge.
10:30 - Even the hairs on your head are numbered,
10:31 - Don’t be afraid, you are more important than a lot of sparrows.
10:32 - Whomever claims me in front of the world, I will also claim him in front of God in Heaven.
10:33 - Whomever claims to not know me before the world, I will in turn state that I do not know him to God in Heaven.
10:34 - Don’t think I came to bring peace on earth; I came to bring a sword.
10:35 - I have come to put a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter in law against her mother in law.
10:36 - A man’s enemies will be his own family.
10:37 - If you love your parent or child more than me, then you don’t deserve me.
10:38 - The one who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy to be with me.
10:39 - Once you find your life, it is gone, and you will only have it if you choose to life your life for my sake.
10:40 - The person that welcomes you welcomes me, and the person that welcomes me receives the one that sent me.
10:41 - Someone who accepts a prophet in the name of a prophet shall be rewarded like a prophet, just like someone who accepts a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall be rewarded just like a righteous man.
10:42 - And if anyone gives one of these children a glass of water in my honor, I tell you, he will receive a reward even for this small thing.
