Matthew 1:1-10

1:1 - The book regarding the genealogy of Jesus Christ, descendant of David, descendant of Abraham.

1:2 - And Abraham fathered a son, Isaac; and Isaac then fathered Jacob; and Jacob fathered a number of sons including one he named Judas.

1:3 - Judas is the father of Phares and Zara from Thamar; Phares is the father of Esrom; and Esrom is the father of Aram;

1:4 - They begat Aram, Aminadab,Naasson,Salmon all alike.

1:5 - And Salmon fathered Booz with Rachab; and Booz fathered Obed with Ruth; and Obed fathered Jesse;

1:6 - Jesse’s son, David the king, had an affair with Urias’ wife that resulted in the birth of Solomon.

1:7 - And Solomon was the father of Roboam, and Roboam was the father of Abia, and Abia was the father of Asa;

1:8 - Ozia was born of Joram, and Joram of Josaphat, and Josaphat of Asa.

1:9 - And Ozias was the father of Jotham, who was the father of Achaz, who was the father of Ezekias.

1:10 - And Ezekias was the father of Manasses; and Manasses was the father of Amon; and Amon was the father of Josias;

Matthew 1:11-20

1:11 - Josias had his son Jechonias and his brothers around the time they were abducted and taken to Babylon.

1:12 - Once they had arrived in Babylon, Jechonias had Salathiel and Slathiel had Zorobabel.

1:13 - And Zorobabel is the father of Abiud; and Abiud is the father of Eliakim; and Eliakim is the father of Azor.

1:14 - And Azor fathered Sadoc; and Sadoc fathered Achim; and Achim fathered Eliud;

1:15 - And Eliud had a son named Eleazar; and Eleazar had a son named Matthan; and Matthan had a son named Jacob;

1:16 - Jacob gave the world Joseph, Mary’s husband, who gave birth to Jesus, our Christ.

1:17 - There are 14 generations between Abraham and David, 14 generations between David and the journey to Babylon, and 14 generations between Babylon and the birth of Christ.

1:18 - The birth of Jesus Christ happened this way: When his mother Mary was going to marry Joseph, before they had sexual relations, she was discovered to be pregnant with a child from the Holy Spirit.

1:19 - Then her husband Joseph, being a fair man, didn’t want to make a public example of her, and was determined to privately send her away.

1:20 - While he considered these issues, an angel of the LORD came to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to get married to Mary: because the baby she is pregnant with is from the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 1:21-25

1:21 - And from her womb will be born a boy, whom should be named Jesus. He will absolve his people of their sins.

1:22 - Spoken of the Lord by the prophet, all is done and fulfilled.

1:23 - There will be a pregnant virgin who will girth birth to a son, and they will call him Emmanuel, which means, God with us.

1:24 - After being risen from his sleep, Joseph did as the angel of the Lord had asked, and found his wife:

1:25 - He did not know her until she had her first son, who he called Jesus.
