The Turker’s Gospel

The Bible According To Mechanical Turk Workers

Mark 14:1-10

14:1 - The eating of unleavened bread on the feast of the passover was two days passed when the scribes were plotting about how to capture Jesus so that they could kill him.

14:2 - But they admonished, Not on a holiday, or the masses will object.

14:3 - And while he was at Bethany in the home of Simon the leper, has he was seated having a meal, a woman came to him having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard that was very precious; and she broke open the box, and poured its contents upon his head.

14:4 - And there were some who resented it, and asked, Why was the ointment wasted?

14:5 - Because it could have been sold for a lot of money, and the money donated to charity. And people gossiped about her.

14:6 - And Jesus said, Leave her alone; why are you bothering her? She did something nice for me.

14:7 - You will always have the poor and whenever you can, you do them good; but you haven’t always done so for me.

14:8 - She did all that she could do. She came to anoint my body for burial.

14:9 - I am telling you the truth, Wherever this gospel shall be proclaimed anywhere on this planet, what she has done here shall be told as a memorial of her.

14:10 - Judas Iscariot was one of the twelve apostles and also the one that betrayed Jesus to the cheif priests.

Mark 14:11-20

14:11 - They were happy when they heard that, and promised to pay him; and he tried to figure out how he could manage to betray him.

14:12 - Traditionally the Passover lamb was killed on the first day of Passover; Jesus’s disciples were wondering how they were going to celebrate the Passover because they knew that certain preparations had to be made.

14:13 - Then he told two of his disciples to enter the city and follow a man carrying a water pitcher.

14:14 - And wherever you go, tell the man who is the head of the house, The Master asks, Where is the location of the assembly room for guests, where I can participate in the Jewish passover festival with my missionaries.

14:15 - He will show you a large room upstairs that is furnished and ready for you.

14:16 - His disciples entered the city and found it as he had described and then made arrangements for the passover.

14:17 - He arrived with twelve others in the evening.

14:18 - While sitting and eating Jesus said one of you that is in my company will betray me.

14:19 - They became full of sorrow and asked unto him one by one, Is it I? and another also asked Is it I?

14:20 - One of the twelve, in fact, one of them that is dunking bread in this dish with me now is he, replied Jesus to them all.

Mark 14:21-30

14:21 - So Jesus will be leaving us, as was predicted in the writings; but woe to the one who betrayed Him! It would have been better for that man if he had never been born.

14:22 - During dinner, Jesus took up the bread, blessed it and broke off a piece saying to them, take this piece of bread and eat it for this is my body.

14:23 - And he took the cup, and after saying grace, he passed it around, and everyone drank from it.

14:24 - And he told them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is being poured out for many.

14:25 - Truly, I say this. I will not drink any more wine until I drink it in the Kingdom of God.

14:26 - After singing a hymn, they traveled up to the Mount of Olives.

14:27 - And Jesus said to them: You will all be upset because of me tonight, for it is preordained that I will strike down the shepherd and scatter his sheep.

14:28 - But after I have arisen, I will go to see you in Galilee.

14:29 - While others will be offended, Peter told him, I will not.

14:30 - And Jesus told him, I assure you, that this evening you will betray me three time before the rooster crows twice.

Mark 14:31-40

14:31 - But he said even more adamantly, I would not betray you even if my life depended on it. Everyone else agreed.

14:32 - And they arrived at a place called Gethsemane: and he said to his disciples, You stay here while I’m praying.

14:33 - Then he took Peter and James and John with him, and he grew both astonished and sad;

14:34 - Tell them, My soul is full of deadly sorrow; watch it occur.

14:35 - He went forward a little way, and dropping to the ground he prayed that, if it were possible, this hour might pass from him.

14:36 - And he said, Papa, I know you can do anything; please don’t let this terrible thing happen; but still, I will do what you want.

14:37 - He came in and found them sleeping. He asks Peter and Simon, Are you awake? Could you stand watch for an hour?

14:38 - Be careful and pray so you’re not tempted. God’s ready to help you. You can’t get through this on your own.

14:39 - Once again, he left, prayed, and repeated his words.

14:40 - When he returned, he found they were asleep once more for they were extremely tired and not able to respond to him.

Mark 14:41-50

14:41 - And he returned to them for the third time and reminded them to rest and sleep because the time had arrived; the Son of man would be betrayed and handed over to false accusers.

14:42 - Come on, let’s go; the traitor is nearby.

14:43 - Immediately, while he yet spoke, Judas, one of the twelve, came with a great crowd bearing swords and staves, coming from the commands of the cheif priests, scribes, and elders.

14:44 - Then the betrayer told them what his signal would be. He said: The man you see me kiss will be the one. Grab him and carefully take him away.

14:45 - And when he arrived in the garden, he went straight to Jesus, and said, Teacher, teacher; and greeted him warmly.

14:46 - And their hands were placed upon him, and they carried him away.

14:47 - In the crowd, one came forward and struck the priest’s slave with a sword, slicing off his ear.

14:48 - And Jesus replied, Have you come with swords and staves to capture me like an outlaw?

14:49 - was with you every day, teaching in the temple and you left me alone: still the scriptures must be fulfilled.

14:50 - They all ran away and abandoned him.

Mark 14:51-60

14:51 - In the back of the crowd was a young man who had only a thin strip of cloth wrapped around his hips; the young men with Jesus grabbed him:

14:52 - And he threw off his clothes and ran away naked.

14:53 - So they took Jesus to the high priest, who had the chief priests, elders, and scribes with him.

14:54 - And Peter followed him from a distance, all the way to the high priest’s palace: and he sat around the fire with the servants.

14:55 - No witnesses against Jesus could be found by the chief priests and the council members when they looked for grounds to execute him.

14:56 - A large amount of people accused him of deeds he did not do, but the deeds he was accused of were all different.

14:57 - He stood up and in a big bold faced lie said,

14:58 - We heard him claim, I will destroy this temple, built with human hands, and in three day I will build another not built with human hands.

14:59 - But they also said that they hadn’t each seen the same thing.

14:60 - And the high priest got up and demanded of Jesus, Don’t you have anything to say? What do these people accuse you of?

Mark 14:61-72

14:61 - But he remained silent. Again the priest demanded, Are you Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

14:62 - And Jesus said, I am: and you are going to see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, coming in the clouds of heaven.

14:63 - The high priest then tore his clothes and said, what is the need of any more witnesses?

14:64 - You have heard all the lies, so what of it? Everyone agrees that he has killed someone.

14:65 - The servants not only struck at him with their hands but spat on him enough to cover his faces saying to him, Prophesy.

14:66 - And since Peter was in the palace, one of the female attendants of the high priest came:

14:67 - And when she saw Peter trying to get warm, she went to him and told him that she knew he was with Jesus of Nazareth.

14:68 - But he said that he didn’t know him and that he didn’t understand what the man was talking about, and when he went out onto the porch, the rooster crowed.

14:69 - When she saw them, the maid said that of the group nearby, he was one of them.

14:70 - Peter denied it a second time, but they asked him yet again if he was not one of the disciples because he was a Galilean and he spoke like one of them.

14:71 - I know not this man of whom ye speak, he insisted, cursing and swearing.

14:72 - And the rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered what Jesus had said, Before the rooster crows twice, you will have betrayed me three times. And when he reflected on this, he cried.
