12:1 - And he started to tell them stories. A man planted a vineyard, fenced it in, dug a place to store the winefat, built a tower, rented it out, and traveled abroad.
12:2 - When the crops were ready, he sent a servant down to the farmer and the farmer was to give him some of the harvest.
12:3 - Captured and borne down upon, he was sent away with no resources left within himself.
12:4 - He sent to them another servant; and they pelted him with stones, leaving his head wounded, and sent him away, violated and ashamed.
12:5 - And he sent more men, but everyone he sent was either beaten or killed.
12:6 - Seeing as he had only one son whom he loved greatly, he offered him to them only at the very last, saying, they will respect my son.
12:7 - The inheritance shall be ours the heir said, come let us kill him,the husbandmen said among themselves.
12:8 - And they laid hold of him, and murdered him, and through him out of the vineyard.
12:9 - The lord of the vineyard will destroy the husbandmen and give the vineyard to others.
12:10 - Haven’t you read the scripture that says: The stone that was rejected by the builders is now the head of the corner.
12:11 - The Lord did this. Isn’t it great?
12:12 - And they wanted to capture him, but they were afraid of the people, because they knew that he had told a parable about them, and they left.
12:13 - And they sent some Pharisees and Herodians to try to trick him.
12:14 - And when they approached the Master they remarked to him, we know that you speak truth based on the the ways of God rather than what men say; tell us, what is our lawful obligation concerning Caesar’s tax?
12:15 - Should we give or not give? But he, knowing of their hypocrisy, said to them, Why are you tempting me? Bring me a penny so I can see it.
12:16 - When they brought it to him he asked whose likeness was on it. They told him it was Cesar’s
12:17 - Give what belongs to Caesar to him and give to God what is God’s, Jesus replied, and caused them to be in awe of him.
12:18 - Then came the Sadducees, who didn’t believe in resurrection, and they asked him:
12:19 - Moses told us that if a woman is widowed and has no children, then her late husband’s brother should marry her and create a family with her.
12:20 - There were seven brothers, and the eldest got married but died childless.
12:21 - And the next guy had his way with her, and another after that.
12:22 - And the seven men had all been with her, and left no children, and finally the woman died, too.
12:23 - In the resurrection then, when they are brought back to life, whose wife will she be? Because she was the wife of all seven of them.
12:24 - And Jesus answered them, Don’t you make mistakes because you understand neither The Bible, nor the power of God?
12:25 - When the dead ones are resurrected they shall no longer marry as before because they will be as the angels are in heaven.
12:26 - By touching the dead they rise. Haven’t you read in the book of Moses that God spoke to them and said: I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob?
12:27 - He is the God of the living, and if you think He is the God of the dead, then you are making a terrible mistake.
12:28 - And one of the scribes came, and having heard the debate that they had just had, and also understanding that he had answered them well, asked him. Which commandment is first and foremost.
12:29 - And Jesus answered him, saying that the most important commandment was that there is but one God.
12:30 - The first commandment is to love the Lord God with your whole heart, your whole soul, your whole mind, and with all your strength.
12:31 - The second one is that you should love your neighbor as you love yourself; there are no greater commandments.
12:32 - And the scribe said to him, Well, Master, you have told the truth, because there is only one God.
12:33 - And to love him with your whole heart, mind and soul, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself, is worth more than all offerings and sacrifices.
12:34 - And when Jesus observed his discretion, he said to him, You are not far from God’s kingdom. And after that nobody dared to question him.
12:35 - Jesus taught in the temple and said, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?
12:36 - David proclaimed, The Holy Ghost has told me that the LORD said to my Lord, sit on my right, until I make your enemies into your footstool.
12:37 - David called him the Lord; is he his son? After hearing this the people celebrated.
12:38 - He told them through his teachings, watch out for the lawyers, who love to walk around in long baggy clothes, and love drawn-out greetings at the store,
12:39 - And the best seats in the synagogue, and the upper rooms at feasts:
12:40 - They are guilty of robbing widows of their homes and they make a mockery with their long and showy prayers; for this they will receive more exacting punishment.
12:41 - And Jesus sat by the treasury, and watched the people throw money into it; and many wealthy people put in a lot of money.
12:42 - And one particular widow came along and threw in two mites, the equivalent of a farthing.
12:43 - And he called his disciples to him, and said, Truly I say to you, This poor widow has made a greater contribution than all that they have:
12:44 - They gave much of their wealth, but she gave everything she had.
