Mark 1:1 - At the start of the word of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
Mark 1:2 - Just like the prophets say, I send my messenger in front of you, whom will show you the way.
Mark 1:3 - His was the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, “Prepare the way of the Lord and make his paths straight.”
Mark 1:4 - John’s baptisms were in the wild, he preached repentance to be forgiven for sins.
Mark 1:5 - The people of Judea and Jerusalem went out to him and he baptized them in the Jordan river; they confessed their sins.
Mark 1:6 - And John was wearing clothes made from camel’s hair, and a leather belt around his waist; and he ate grasshoppers and wild honey;
Mark 1:7 - And he preached, There is one greater than me, whose shoes I am not worthy of untying.
Mark 1:8 - I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
Mark 1:9 - And when the time was right, Jesus traveled from Nazareth of Galilee, to meet John who baptized Jesus in the Jordan.
Mark 1:10 - And as soon as he came back up from the water he saw that the skies above him had opened to reveal the Spirit, in the form of a dove, soaring down upon him.
Mark 1:11 - And there was a voice that spoke from heaven, saying, You are my beloved Son, who I am very pleased with.
Mark 1:12 - The spirit drove him into the wilderness immediately.
Mark 1:13 - And he was in the wilderness for forty days, tempted by Satan; and was surrounded by wild animals; and the angels took care of him.
Mark 1:14 - Now that John was in prison, Jesus went to Galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
Mark 1:15 - And he said: The time predicted has come, the Kingdom of God is near, repent and believe the news.
Mark 1:16 - When he wandered past the sea of Galilee, he spied Simon as well as his brother Andrew flinging a fishing net out upon the water.
Mark 1:17 - And Jesus spoke to them with an invitation, saying, Be my followers and I will teach you to be fishers of men.
Mark 1:18 - They took off after him right away, leaving their nets behind.
Mark 1:19 - When he had gone a little farther he could see Zebedee’s son, James, and his brother John, on the ship mending the nets.
Mark 1:20 - He called to them directly, whereupon they left their father, Zebedee, in the ship with the hired hands, and followed him.
Mark 1:21 - They traveled to Capernaum, and on the sabbath, he went into the synagogue and preached.
Mark 1:22 - They were amazed by what and how he taught, for he taught from knowledge and with understanding not like those who just read from text.
Mark 1:23 - Their was a man with a polluted soul in their synagogue, and he shouted,
Mark 1:24 - Leave us alone Jesus of Nazareth, we want nothing to do with you, have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, you are the Holy One of God.
Mark 1:25 - And Jesus reprimanded him, saying, keep your peace and come out from under his influence.
Mark 1:26 - The demon ripped away from the body he inhabited and tormented, exited him.
Mark 1:27 - Awed, they asked each other, imploring, What can this be? What new law is this? He orders even unclean spirits out and because of his authority, these spirits heed his commands.
Mark 1:28 - He became famous all over Galilee and its outskirts, overnight.
Mark 1:29 - And as soon as they left the synagogue, they went to Simon and Andrew’s house, together with James and John.
Mark 1:30 - The disciples told Jesus that Simon’s mother-in-law was deathly ill.
Mark 1:31 - Jesus entered the room, took the woman’s hand, and helped her stand; right away her fever was healed, and she took care of him and his disciples.
Mark 1:32 - And at dusk, they brought him all the people with physical and spiritual ailments.
Mark 1:33 - Everyone from the city was standing by the door.
Mark 1:34 - And he cured many people of a number of diseases and he expelled many demons; and the demons left without speaking to him because they knew who he was.
Mark 1:35 - Before dawn, he went out by himself and prayed.
Mark 1:36 - Of all them went with him, including Simon.
Mark 1:37 - Once they found him, they said to him, All men look for you.
Mark 1:38 - We should move to the next town, he said to his followers, because they are why I am here.
Mark 1:39 - Preaching in synagogues throughout Galilee,will cast out devils.
Mark 1:40 - A man sick with leprosy kneeled down in front of him and begged, If you want to, you have the power to cure me.
Mark 1:41 - Jesus was moved with compassion and touched him with his hand, and said to him, I will; be thou clean.
Mark 1:42 - Right after he spoke, the leprosy was gone and he was rid of it.
Mark 1:43 - Then he gave him his orders and told him to go.
Mark 1:44 - And he said to him, Tell no one, but go on your way, show yourself to the priest and offer what Moses wanted cleansed in order to provide testimonial.
Mark 1:45 - He spread the news far and wide, so that Jesus could no longer enter the city, so the citizens went to him in the desert.
