4:1 - And Jesus came back from Jordan possessed by the Holy Ghost, only to be taken into the wilderness by the Spirit,
4:2 - He was tempted by the devil for forty days and during this time he ate nothing. When it was done, he was hungry.
4:3 - The devil said, If you are the Son of God, prove it by turning this stone into bread.
4:4 - And Jesus answered, It is written that man shall not live by bread alone, but feast in the word of God.
4:5 - The devil led him to the top of a mountain and displayed all the corners of the world in a second.
4:6 - And the devil said unto him, I will give you their glory and my power, for it is mine to give.
4:7 - If you worship me, you’ll have everything.
4:8 - And Jesus answered and said to him: Go away and stop tempting me, Satan, for it is written that you shall only worship and serve the Lord thy God.
4:9 - And he brought him to Jerusalem, lifted him to the highest point of the temple, and said, Prove you are truly the Son of God and jump from there without harm.
4:10 - The scriptures say that He shall put you under the care of the angels and they will keep you safe.
4:11 - And they will carry you so the stones won’t hurt your feet.
4:12 - And Jesus answering his question, told him, to remember the saying, do not tempt the Lord your God.
4:13 - When the devil was finished tempting the men, he left for the rest of the season.
4:14 - And Jesus returned to Galilee filled with the power of the Spirit: and from there his fame spread throughout the region.
4:15 - His message at the synagogue to everyone was to be glorified of all.
4:16 - He stood to be seen in his home town of Nazareth on the sabbath day.
4:17 - He was given the book and looked through it until he found where it was written.
4:18 - The Spirit of the Lord is with me because he has told me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me here to heal the brokenhearted, to give the captives hope of release, to give the blind their eyesight back, to heal those that are bruised,
4:19 - It is acceptable to preach the year of the Lord.
4:20 - The people who were there at the synagogue looked at him once the minister sat down and a book given.
4:21 - And he said that today is the day the scriptures filled their ears.
4:22 - In awe of the gracious words which he spoke, the witnesses asked, Is this Joseph’s son?
4:23 - As he told them, Ye will definitely tell me the same proverb, that the Physician,will heal themselves: Whatever is heard which is done in Capernaum,will also be done in their country.
4:24 - He said, Really, I am telling you, no prophet is accepted in his own country.
4:25 - I’m telling you the truth, in the four days of Elias many widows were in Israel, for three years and six months heaven was shut, and all the land was in a great famine;
4:26 - Elias was only sent to a widow in who lived in the city of Sarepta in Sidon.
4:27 - When Eliseus the prophet lived, there were many lepers in Israel; none of them were purged except for Naaman the Syrian.
4:28 - Everybody in the synagogue was outraged at what they heard.
4:29 - And got up, and kicked him out of the city, and led him to the ridge of the hill where their city was built, so they could throw him down the hill.
4:30 - He was passing through the middle of a crowd but went his own way.
4:31 - He descended to Capernaum, which is a city in Galilee. There he taught them each Sabbath.
4:32 - They were surprised at what he taught because he spoke so forcefully.
4:33 - In the synagogue was a mean man, who yelled out,
4:34 - He said, Leave us alone! We have no business with you, Jesus of Nazareth. Did you come to destroy us? I know who you are. You are the Holy One of God.
4:35 - And Jesus reprimanded him, saying, hold your peace, and get out of him. Then the devil threw him in the middle, he came out, and didn’t hurt him.
4:36 - They were amazed and spoke amongst themselves saying, What is this! Because with authority and power he commands the dirty spirits and they come out.
4:37 - His fame spread throughout the country and surrounding areas.
4:38 - He moved out of the synagogue and went into Simon’s house. Simon’s mother-in-law was very ill and they asked for his aid.
4:39 - He hovered over her and took away her fever; rising at once she tended to the needs of others.
4:40 - At the end of the day, they brought to him all the people who were sick with divers diseases. He put his healing hands on each one, and all of them were healed.
4:41 - And from many of them devils emerged, yelling out loud, and claiming, You are Christ who is the Son of god. And he sharply reproved them and did not let them talk: because they understood he and Christ were one in the same.
4:42 - And when the sun rose he traveled to a barren land where people tried to find him and when they did told him he should not have left.
4:43 - He told them that he must preach the kingdom of God to other people and then left to do so.
4:44 - And he gave sermons in Galilee’s synagogues.
