21:1 - And he lifted his eyes up, and witnessed the wealthy men tossing their presents in store of treasures.
21:2 - He saw a particular poor widow throwing in her two small coins.
21:3 - And Jesus said, I tell you that this poor widow who has nothing much to give, has given more of what she can than the combined proportion of all of you.
21:4 - Even though many people believe in God and offer him abundantly, she lives in poverty and gives all she has to God.
21:5 - While some spoke about how adorned with goodly stones and gifts the temple was, he said,
21:6 - As for the things that you see, there will come a day when no stone will rest on any other stone, for they will all be knocked down.
21:7 - And they asked him, Master, when will these things happen? and how will we know when the time comes?
21:8 - And He said, Be careful that you don’t allow yourself to be fooled: many will come in my name, saying, ‘yes, I am the Christ’; and this when the end time is getting close: so don’t run after them.
21:9 - Don’t be afraid when you hear about wars and conflicts. These things will happen, but the end of the world is not near.
21:10 - Then he told them, Nation will fight against another nation, and kingdom against another kingdom.
21:11 - There will be great earthquakes in the seas and hunger and disease and scary things in the sky and these signs will be from heaven.
21:12 - Before all of this they will lay their hands on you, persecute you, and take you from synagogues to prisons to be brought before rulers for the sake of my name.
21:13 - And it will be your turn to tell the truth.
21:14 - Let your answer come immediately from your heart. Do not think too long on what you think they would like to hear to meet with their approval.
21:15 - I will give you the words to speak and the wisdom you need, and none of your enemies will be able to argue successfully against you.
21:16 - You shall be betrayed by your parents, siblings, family, and friends; and they shall cause some of you to be put to death.
21:17 - And everybody will hate you because of my name.
21:18 - There won’t even be a single hair on your head harmed.
21:19 - Your souls are contained in your patience.
21:20 - When you Jerusalem surrounded by armies, you’ll be sure that destruction is very near.
21:21 - Let those in Judea run for the mountains; let those in the middle of it leave; don’t let those in other countries enter.
21:22 - For these are the days when revenge is possible, making sure that all the things that have been foretold come true.
21:23 - There will be trouble for women that are pregnant, and women who are breastfeeding, during this time! For there will be torment on the earth and anger toward this people.
21:24 - And they will be killed by soldiers, and taken away to be slaves to all the countries in the world: and Jerusalem will be crushed by the Gentiles, until their time is done.
21:25 - Watch for the signs of change in the sun and the moon and stars with the sea waves roaring and chaos, confusion, and disorder in all the earth’s nations.
21:26 - People will be terrified, seeing the dreadful things that are happening: because even the heavens above will be shaken.
21:27 - Next, they will notice a caped infant male diving through the clouds with great acceleration and maneuverability.
21:28 - You will see that when these things happen, you will look to the skies and be proud because you are near redemption.
21:29 - He told them a story about honoring all trees, including the fig tree.
21:30 - When the plants begin to sprout, we know that summer is not far off.
21:31 - Be aware, so that when you see these signs, you will know that the kingdom of God is near.
21:32 - I tell you the truth that this generation won’t fully die until everything that should be done is done.
21:33 - The earth and the universe will disappear: but my words are immortal.
21:34 - Make sure just in case you are ever distracted by day to day worries or earthly pleasures and suddenly the time has come and you’re surprised.
21:35 - For just like a trap will it be sprung upon all those living on the earth.
21:36 - So stay on guard, praying all the time, that you might be judged worthy and allowed to escape the things that are going to happen, and to present yourself before God’s Son.
21:37 - During the day he spent his time teaching in the temple; at night he went out and stayed on the Mount of Olives.
21:38 - And everyone rose early in the day in order to go to the temple to listen to him.
