The Turker’s Gospel

The Bible According To Mechanical Turk Workers

Luke 16:1-10

16:1 - He said to the disciples, There was a rich man and he had a financial manager and he accused the manager of wasting his money.

16:2 - He asked of him, How can I hear this of you? Tell me about your time as a steward or you may not be a steward any more.

16:3 - What shall I do, said the steward within himself. The stewardship taketh away from me for my lord. I can’t dig. I am ashamed to beg.

16:4 - I know what I’ll do so if I lose my job, at least these people will maybe take care of me.

16:5 - He called each one of his lord’s sinners to him, and said to the first one, how much do you owe to my lord?

16:6 - He then said, ‘A hundred units of oil’. He replied, ‘Take your invoice, sit down there, and write fifty’.

16:7 - Then he asked another man, How much do you owe? And the man answered, A hundred measures of wheat. And he told the man, Take your bill, and write fourscore.

16:8 - And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done right: the children of this world in this generation are wiser than the children of light.

16:9 - I tell you, become friends with the rich and unrighteous so that when you fail, they will welcome you into their homes forever.

16:10 - If you have faith in the little things then you have faith in the big things: and if you cheat just a little you will also cheat a lot.

Luke 16:11-20

16:11 - If you have not been faithful to your earthly possessions, how will you be faithful to your heavenly rewards?

16:12 - If you are not honest and take something that belongs to someone else, how do you expect another person to be honest and give you what belongs to you?

16:13 - You can’t have two bosses–you’ll obey one or the other but not both. The same is true with God–you cannot serve God and still make money the main focus of your life.

16:14 - The Pharisees heard all this; they were greedy and they insulted Him.

16:15 - And Jesus spoke these words, You may be able to fool men with your talk, but it is God who can see into your heart. What a man sees as important to himself is regarded as despicable to God.

16:16 - The law and the prophets lasted until John: since then the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone forces himself into it.

16:17 - It’s easier for heaven and earth to be together than it is for one law to fail.

16:18 - Those who shun their wives, and marries someone else, Does commit the sin of adultery against her: Those who married her and puts her away from her husband, also commits the sin of adultery.

16:19 - A particular rich man was always clothed in fine linen the color of purple, and he lived famously every day:

16:20 - A beggar with the name Lazarus, who was laid at his gate full of sores

Luke 16:21-31

16:21 - The dogs licked the rich man’s sores because they wanted to be fed the crumbs from the table.

16:22 - And when the time came for the beggar to die, he was carried to Abraham’s breast by angels. The rich man died too but he was only buried;

16:23 - And while going through the torments of Hell, he looked up and saw Abraham far far away with his arm around Lazarus.

16:24 - He cried and said Father Abraham, Have mercy, send me to Lazarus so he may dip his fingertip in water and cool my tongue because I am tormented in this fire.

16:25 - Abraham spoke to his son, telling him to not forget that in his life, he did receive many good things, just as Lazarus received many bad things: But after these things, he is now soothed, and I am now in torment.

16:26 - Besides all of this, there is a great chasm between us and no one can pass from you to me or from me to you.

16:27 - Then he said, I beg you then, father, to send him to my father’s house:

16:28 - I have five brethren; he can tell them about this place so that they will not have to come to this place of torment.

16:29 - They have Moses and the prophets, Abraham said to him. They should listen to them.

16:30 - He said, no, father Abraham, but if somebody came back from the dead and told them, they’d repent.

16:31 - If they cannot accept the evidence already given to them in scripture from Moses and the prophets, one more miracle will not persuade them.
