The Turker’s Gospel

The Bible According To Mechanical Turk Workers

Luke 10:1-10

10:1 - Then the Lord appointed another seventy, and sent them ahead of him, in pairs, into every city and place to which he would come himself.

10:2 - So he told them that there was a lot of work to be done but few workers, so they should ask the Lord to send more workers.

10:3 - Go on your way, but be aware that I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.

10:4 - Carrying neither purse, nor script, nor shoes, salute no man by the way.

10:5 - Whenever you enter a home be sure to say, Peace to this house.

10:6 - Your balance shall rest upon the son of peace: if not, your balance shall turn to you again

10:7 - You should be loyal, trust your keeper, be satisfied with what they offer and not go out in search of something better.

10:8 - It doesn’t matter where you visit, if you are welcomed eat what is offered

10:9 - Also to heal the sick that are there while telling them of God’s kingdom being close at hand.

10:10 - Wherever you go in the city, and they don’t accept you, leave this city the same way you came in, and say,

Luke 10:11-20

10:11 - Even the dust from the city which comes down upon us is wiped off against you: either way you can be assured that God’s kingdom is close to you.

10:12 - But I am telling you, that there will be better conditions in Sodom at that time, than in that city.

10:13 - Poor you, Chorazin! Poor you, Bethsaida! Because if all the work had been completed in Tyre and Sidon, by yourselves, they all repented al long time ago, sitting in sacks and ashes.

10:14 - It will be better for Tyre and Sidon when the end comes, than it will be for you.

10:15 - And Capernaum will not be lifted up to heaven, it will be thrown into hell.

10:16 - Anyone who hears you, hears me; and anyone who hates you, hates me; and anyone who hates me, hates God who sent me to you.

10:17 - and the 70 came back in joy saying, Lord, even the devils must obey us though your name.

10:18 - He said to them, I saw Satan fall from heaven like a bolt of lightning.

10:19 - I give you power over serpents and scorpions and over all of the power of the enemy and nothing will be able to harm you.

10:20 - But don’t be happy about the fact that you are in charge of the spirits, be happy that you are assured a place in heaven.

Luke 10:21-30

10:21 - During that time, Jesus was happy and said, Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the smart and intelligent people and have instead shown them to naive people: good choice, Father; they were so appreciative of it.

10:22 - My Father has given me all things: he is the only one who knows who the Son is; in the same way, the Son and those told by the Son are the only ones who know who the Father is.

10:23 - And he turned to his disciples and said quietly, Blessed are the eyes that see the things that you see:

10:24 - I tell you the truth, many important people — prophets and kings — have yearned to see these things that you have seen, but did not; and to hear these things that you have heard, but did not.

10:25 - A lawyer stood up and asked him how to live forever.

10:26 - He said what does the law say? How do you interpret the law?

10:27 - And he answered, You must love the Lord God with your whole heart, your whole soul, your whole mind, and all your strength; and you must love your neighbor as yourself.

10:28 - And he said to him, You have answered correctly: Do this, and you will live.

10:29 - He was seeking to understand and asked Jesus, who is my neighbor?

10:30 - In answer Jesus said, An individual traveled from Jerusalem to Jericho where he was overcome by thieves who robbed him of his clothes, beat him and left him practically dead.

Luke 10:31-42

10:31 - It just so happened that a priest came walking by. Seeing us, he crossed to the other side of the road to avoid any unpleasant confrontations.

10:32 - Similarly a Levite came to the place, he looked at him and then passed on keeping to the far side.

10:33 - However a Samaritan traveling along the road, stopped when he saw him and took pity on him,

10:34 - He went to him, attended to his wounds and cleaned them with oil and wine, he put him on his horse, took him somewhere to stay and took care of him.

10:35 - As he was leaving the next day, he took two pence, gave it to the host, and said Take care of him; and if you spend more than I gave you, I will repay you upon my return.

10:36 - Of the three, which do you believe to be the one involved with the thieves?

10:37 - He said he that showed mercy on him. Jesus said to the man go and show mercy on a man likewise.

10:38 - Now they began to enter a village where woman named Martha invited him into her home.

10:39 - Her sister Mary also listened to and believed Jesus.

10:40 - Martha was upset that she was doing all the cooking for them and went to Jesus and asked, Do you think it fair that I’m the one doing all the work? Tell her to help me.

10:41 - And to answer her, Jesus said: Martha, Martha, you are careful and worried about lots of things:

10:42 - But it is necessary that you remember one thing: what Mary chose must not be taken from her.
