The Turker’s Gospel

The Bible According To Mechanical Turk Workers

John 9:1-10

John 9:1 - And as Jesus walked by, he saw a man who had been born blind.

John 9:2 - The followers queried, Master is this man blind because he sinned or because his parents sinned?

John 9:3 - Jesus said that the man had done nothing wrong and he was indeed the work of God.

John 9:4 - During the day, I must do the work I was sent here to do. When it is nighttime, now one can work.

John 9:5 - I am in the world for now, Therefore I am the light of the world.

John 9:6 - And when he was finished talking, he spit into the dust and made a tiny bit of clay, he gently patted the clay on the blind man’s eyes,

John 9:7 - He told him to wash in the pool of Siloam and when he washed he was able to see.

John 9:8 - The mans neighbors and everyone else who had seen the blind man asked, Was it him that used to sit and beg?

John 9:9 - Some of them said, That’s him: others said, That looks like him: but He said, I am Him.

John 9:10 - Hence, they asked him, how was it your eyes were opened to the light?

John 9:11-20

John 9:11 - He responded, A man named Jesus touched my eyes with clay he had formed. Then he told me to go to the pool at Siloam and wash. When I did that I could see again.

John 9:12 - They asked him where he was and he told them he didn’t know.

John 9:13 - The blind Pharisees where brought before him.

John 9:14 - And it was Saturday when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes.

John 9:15 - The Pharisees asked him again how he regained his sight. He replied that He had put clay on his eyes, and washed it off, and then he could see.

John 9:16 - The Pharisees were divided arguing that this man was not of God because he doesn’t keep the sabbath day holy and questioned the idea that a sinner could do such miracles.

John 9:17 - The crowd asked how the blind man was now able to see, and he told them about the healing touch of the prophet.

John 9:18 - The Jews didn’t want to concern him, that he could not see, and got his sight, then let his parents know he had received his sight.

John 9:19 - And they asked them, Isn’t this your son, the one blind from birth? How come he can see now?

John 9:20 - His parents answered them, saying This is our son and we know that he was born blind:

John 9:21-30

John 9:21 - We don’t know how he stopped being blind, but he is a competent person, so you should ask him yourself and see what he says.

John 9:22 - This is what his parents said, because they were afraid of the Jews. The Jews had already agreed that if anyone testified that he was the savior, he would be thrown out of the synagogue.

John 9:23 - Ask him, he is of age said his parents.

John 9:24 - The blind man was then called again, he was told, Praise be given to God: this man is known to be a sinner.

John 9:25 - He replied, If he has done wrong, or not, I cannot say; I know only that I have regained my vision.

John 9:26 - Then they asked him again, What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?

John 9:27 - He answered them, I have already told you, but you didn’t listen, so why would you listen this time? Will you also be his disciples?

John 9:28 - You are God’s disciple, but we are Moses’.

John 9:29 - We know that God talked to Moses, but we don’t know even know who this guy is.

John 9:30 - The man told them, this is a marvelous thing, you do not know where he came from, yet he has opened my eyes.

John 9:31-41

John 9:31 - God hears only those who worship him, not those who live in sin.

John 9:32 - It has been your duty to help a man in need for all of time.

John 9:33 - If this man did not come from God then he would not be able to do anything.

John 9:34 - They responded, Of what can you teach us but the crimes you were born to?, and so they sent him into exile.

John 9:35 - They sent him into exile and Jesus, upon hearing the news, sought him out and demanded of him, Do you believe in me?

John 9:36 - He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, I want to know if I can believe in him.

John 9:37 - And Jesus inquired if both had seen him, and if they were sure that it was he with whom they spoke.

John 9:38 - And he said, Lord I, believe. And he worshipped him.

John 9:39 - Jesus said, I came here to judge, and to get people who cannot see to gain understanding and to make blind people who think they have understanding but really don’t.

John 9:40 - These words were heard by the Pharisees with him, to him they said, Are we also blind?

John 9:41 - Jesus told those who were with him, If you were unable to see, you would not be in sin, but at this point you are claiming to see; so now your sins stay are still with you.
