John 8:1 - The mount of Olives is where Jesus went.
John 8:2 - At dawn he arrived at the temple, and a crowd of people came to see him; and he sat down, and taught the people.
John 8:3 - And the scribes and Pharisees brought him an adulteress woman; and when they put her in the middle of the people.
John 8:4 - They tell him, Master, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.
John 8:5 - Moses gave us the law, which commanded that such a person should be stoned. What do you say?
John 8:6 - They said this, hoping that he might respond and give them grounds to accuse him. But Jesus bent down and drew in the dust on the ground, as if he didn’t even hear them.
John 8:7 - Yet they kept at him with questions until he stood and said, Let he who sins not strike the first stone at this woman.
John 8:8 - He leaned down once more to write in the dirt.
John 8:9 - They left Jesus and the woman, one by one, oldest to youngest.
John 8:10 - When Jesus stood up, he did not see anybody else except for the woman, and he asked her, Woman, where are the people who accused you? has anybody condemned you?
John 8:11 - Has no man condemned you the Lord ask, she replied no name and He said to her I don’t condemn you go without sinning anymore.
John 8:12 - Jesus explained that he is the light of the world so that man should not walk in darkness, but have a lamp to light his way.
John 8:13 - The Pharisees then said to him, You tell about yourself, and you lie.
John 8:14 - Jesus answered and told them, Thou I tell you of myself, my story is true: I know where I came from, and where I’m going; but you can’t tell where I came from, and where I go.
John 8:15 - Men judge each other on earthly things, but I judge no man.
John 8:16 - If I judge, my judgment is true and honest, for I do not judge alone, I judge with the Father that sent me.
John 8:17 - It is even part of your own law, that when two men’s testimony agrees, they are telling the truth.
John 8:18 - I vouch for Myself, and so does God the Father, who sent Me.
John 8:19 - When they asked Jesus about his Father, Jesus answered, If you knew my Father, you would know me.
John 8:20 - Jesus spoke these words in the treasury just as he had said in the temple, but no one took him away because it was not yet the time.
John 8:21 - Then Jesus told them, I will go on my way. You will look for me, but you will die, for where I am going, you cannot go.
John 8:22 - The Jews wondered if he was planning to kill himself, since he had said, Where I am going you cannot follow me.
John 8:23 - And he told them, you are from beneath; I am from above: you are from this world; I am not from this world.
John 8:24 - So I told you that you would die for your sins; if you don’t believe in me you will die because of your sins.
John 8:25 - Then they asked him, Who are you? And Jesus said to them, I am the same person that I told you I was before.
John 8:26 - I still have many things to teach you: but God who sent me is faithful; and I am telling everyone the things that I heard him say first.
John 8:27 - They did not understand that he was speaking to them about the Father.
John 8:28 - You will realize that I am only what my Father has made me.
John 8:29 - The Father, who sent me, is with me always, for I do the things that please Him.
John 8:30 - A lot of people thought he was telling the truth as he said these things.
John 8:31 - Jesus told the Jews who believed in him, If you live according to my teachings then you also become my disciples.
John 8:32 - And you will know what is true, and that truth will give you freedom.
John 8:33 - They replied, We are Abraham’s descendants, and we have never been slaves for anybody: how can you say, We will become free?
John 8:34 - Jesus replied, I tell you truthfully, anyone who sins is a slave to sin.
John 8:35 - Hired help doesn’t stay forever, but your child is always a part of you.
John 8:36 - If the Son sets you free then, indeed, you will be free.
John 8:37 - Although you’re from Abraham’s family I know you’re trying to kill me because you don’t believe anything I say.
John 8:38 - My Father has set the example for me and your father should set the example for you.
John 8:39 - The replied to him saying Abraham is our father, Jesus responded If you were Abraham’s children then you would do the works of Abraham
John 8:40 - Why do you want to kill the man who told you the truth that I heard from God, not Abraham.
John 8:41 - You do the deeds of your father. Then they said to him, But we are not born from illicit sex; we have only one Father, and that is God.
John 8:42 - Jesus explained that he did not come to them on his own and that they would love him if God were their Father because God had sent him.
John 8:43 - Why don’t you understand what I am saying to you? Is it because you just can’t (or won’t) listen?
John 8:44 - You will be a bad man because your father was.
John 8:45 - Because I tell you the truth, you do not believe me.
John 8:46 - You would have me believe lies, but if I tell you the truth you do not believe it.
John 8:47 - You aren’t a follower of God, you obviously can’t hear God’s Word, you do not hear or pay heed to His Word, if you are a follower of God you hear and practice His Word.
John 8:48 - The Jews wanted to know if He was a Samaritan who was possessed by demons.
John 8:49 - Jesus responded that he had no devil, only respect for his Father, and that you do not respect me.
John 8:50 - I don’t want to be famous, there is only one whose approval I seek.
John 8:51 - Truthfully I tell you that any man who is obedient to my words will never die.
John 8:52 - Then the Jews said to him, Now we know that you are evil and deceptive. Abraham and all the prophets are dead. But you claim that if a person does what you tell him to he will not ever die.
John 8:53 - Our father Abraham is dead as well as the prophets, could you possibly be even more great than father Abraham, who are you?
John 8:54 - Jesus answered, If I praise myself, the praise means nothing. My Father is the one who has praised me, and my father is the one that you call God:
John 8:55 - You haven’t known him, but I know him. And if I said I didn’t I’d be lying. But I know him and I do what he says.
John 8:56 - Your father Abraham was excited to see my day, he saw it, and he rejoiced.
John 8:57 - The Jews said to him, You are not even fifty years old. Have you seen Abraham?
John 8:58 - I tell you truth, Jesus told them, I was before Abraham was.
John 8:59 - They have grabbed rocks to throw at him: but Jesus went into hiding, and left the temple, traveling through the middle of the throng, and was able to pass through without detection.
