John 7:1-10

John 7:1 - The Lord Jesus would not walk in Jewry, because they would kill him, so Jesus walked in Galilee instead.

John 7:2 - Now it was the Jewish holiday of Sukkos.

John 7:3 - His brothers asked him to travel to Judea so that his disciples could also see the good works that he does.

John 7:4 - No one does anything in secret who hopes to be known. If you do this kind of thing then show yourself for everyone to see.

John 7:5 - His brothers did not believe in him.

John 7:6 - Jesus said, My time is not here yet, but you should always be ready because you don’t know when your time will come.

John 7:7 - The word will not hate you, but myself it will, I am responsible for it, and it is the work of no good.

John 7:8 - It isn’t time for me to eat yet, but it is time for you.

John 7:9 - Once he had spoken these words to them, he lived more in Galilee.

John 7:10 - When his brothers had gone, he went to the dinner but he did it in secret instead of drawing attention to himself.

John 7:11-20

John 7:11 - The Jews were looking for him at the feast and they asked people where He was.

John 7:12 - Many were speaking of Jesus and while some said that he was a good man,some said even though a good man he was still deceiving the people.

John 7:13 - However, no man spoke of him, openly, for fear of the Jews.

John 7:14 - In the middle of the banquet, Jesus began teaching in the temple.

John 7:15 - The Jews were surprised and asked, How does this man, who is not educated, understand this?

John 7:16 - Jesus replied saying, This teaching is not from me but from him that sent me.

John 7:17 - If anybody does his will, he’ll know whether the teachings come from God or simply from me.

John 7:18 - The man that talks about himself, seeks his own glory, and that’s also true of the one that seeks his glory that sent him, but no unrighteousness is in him.

John 7:19 - Didn’t Moses give you the law? Yet none of you live by the law. Why are you trying to have me killed?

John 7:20 - Then the people said, There is a devil living in you: so who is able to kill you?

John 7:21-30

John 7:21 - Jesus responded to them by saying, I performed a single task, and you all are amazed.

John 7:22 - It was the fathers’ decision to circumcise a man on the sabbath day.

John 7:23 - You say that if a man receives circumcision on the sabbath then the law of Moses is not broken, and yet you are angry at me because I have made a man whole on the sabbath.

John 7:24 - Don’t criticize by sight, make an honest and just decision.

John 7:25 - Then some people from Jerusalem asked, was it him they were trying to kill?

John 7:26 - Behold, he talks so brashly but no one says a word. Do the leaders know that this actually Christ?

John 7:27 - However we know where this man is: when Christ comes, no man knows where he is.

John 7:28 - Then Jesus cried in the temple as he taught, saying, You both know me, and you know where I am: and I have not come on my own, but I was sent by he that is true, you do not know him.

John 7:29 - But I know who he is: because I come from him, and he is the one who sent me.

John 7:30 - At this point they tried to take Jesus, but no one managed to lay their hands on Him, because His time to be taken had simply not come.

John 7:31-40

John 7:31 - Will Christ do more miracles than the man they all know.

John 7:32 - The Pharisees heard the the people were circulating these things regarding Him; and they, in cahoots with the chief priests, sent agents to arrest him.

John 7:33 - Then Jesus told them, I’ll be with you a little while longer, and then I’ll return to the one who sent me.

John 7:34 - You will look for me and you will not find me, and you cannot follow me to where I will be.

John 7:35 - The Jews said to themselves, Where is he going to go where we can’t find him? Will he go to the Gentiles and teach them?

John 7:36 - What did he mean when he said, You will look for me, but will not find me. Where I am, you cannot come?

John 7:37 - On the great day of the feast, it was the last day and Jesus stood and cried, If any man is thirsty, let him come to me and I will quench his thirst.

John 7:38 - If you believe in me, as the scriptures say, out of you, rivers of living water will flow.

John 7:39 - Those who believe will receive the Spirit but it was not time yet because Jesus had not been glorified.

John 7:40 - When the people heard this, they said that he was truly the Prophet.

John 7:41-53

John 7:41 - Some people said This is the Christ while others said Shall Christ come from Galilee?

John 7:42 - Don’t the scriptures say that Christ will be a descendant of David and will come from the town of Bethlehem where David was from?

John 7:43 - There was a rift between the people because of him.

John 7:44 - And some of them wanted to capture him, but no one laid a hand on him.

John 7:45 - They came and asked, Why didn’t you bring him?

John 7:46 - The leaders said, we’ve never seen a man talk like this before.

John 7:47 - Then they asked the Pharisees, Have you also been tricked?

John 7:48 - Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in him?

John 7:49 - However, this group of people that is ignorant of the law is cursed.

John 7:50 - Nicodemus said the them, including the man who came to Jesus by night,

John 7:51 - Does our society judge a person before hearing his testimony or knowing what it is he did?

John 7:52 - In response they said to him: Are you also from Galilee? Consider carefully, because no prophets ever come from Galilee.

John 7:53 - And every man retreated to his own home.
