John 13:1-10

John 13:1 - Before the Passover, Jesus knew that his time in the world was almost up. He would leave this world and go to God, having loved the people of the world with all his heart until the end.

John 13:2 - Dinner was over and Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, had been led by Satan to thoughts of betrayal;

John 13:3 - Jesus knew that he had been given everything by his Father, God.

John 13:4 - He got up from dinner, took his clothes off and wrapped himself in a towel.

John 13:5 - Afterwards, he poured water into a basin, and washed and wiped the disciples’ feet with the towel he had around his waist.

John 13:6 - Then he came to Simon Peter; and Peter asked him, Lord, why do you humble yourself by washing my feet?

John 13:7 - Jesus replied, You do not understand what I am doing now, but you will know later.

John 13:8 - Peter told him, please don’t wash my feet. Jesus responded, if you don’t let me bath you, then we can not hang out together.

John 13:9 - Simon Peter said to him: Lord, not just my feet, but my hands and my head too.

John 13:10 - Jesus said that to be completely clean a person only needs to wash his or her feet, and practically everyone here are therefore clean.

John 13:11-20

John 13:11 - He told them they weren’t all innocent because he knew they would betray him.

John 13:12 - Once he washed their feet and had his garments taken away and was placed down again he said to them, Do you know what I have done to you?

John 13:13 - You are right to call me Master and Lord, for that is what I am.

John 13:14 - If your superior, who is I, washed the feet of you; you should likewise wash each others feet.

John 13:15 - I have show you how so that now you can do what I have done to you.

John 13:16 - Truly, truly, I say to you: The servant is not greater than his master, nor is the one who has been sent greater than the one who sent him.

John 13:17 - Happiness springs not from knowing, but from doing.

John 13:18 - I’m not talking about all of you: I know who I have picked, and I have done so in order that scripture would be fulfilled, The man eating bread with Me here has decided he is against Me.

John 13:19 - Now I’ve told you this before it happens, so that when it happens, you will believe that I am the son of God.

John 13:20 - I tell you the truth, Anyone who takes care of one of my followers takes care of me, and anyone who takes care of me takes care of God who sent me.

John 13:21-30

John 13:21 - Jesus was very troubled when he told his friends that one of them would turn on him.

John 13:22 - The disciples looked at one another, for they weren’t sure who he was talking about.

John 13:23 - Now there was one of his disciples whom Jesus loved leaning on his chest.

John 13:24 - Simon Peter wave him over, so he could ask who he was talking about.

John 13:25 - Lord, who is he he ask as he lies on Jesus’ chest.

John 13:26 - Jesus Answered, is is him, to whom I will give a morsle of bread when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

John 13:27 - Afterwards, Satan possessed him and Jesus told him to do what he had come to do, and to be quick about it.

John 13:28 - No one sitting at the table knew what his intention was for saying this.

John 13:29 - Some people assumed that because Judas had the bag, Jesus had asked him to buy the necessary provisions for the feast or had told him to give something to the poor.

John 13:30 - As soon as he had eaten dinner he went out, and it was evening.

John 13:31-38

John 13:31 - Then when he went out, Jesus said, Now the Son of man is glorified when God is in his heart.

John 13:32 - If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him within, and shall immediately glorify him.

John 13:33 - I am only here for a little while longer, little ones. You will look for me: I will tell you as I told the Jews, Where I am going you cannot follow, so now I speak to you.

John 13:34 - I command you to love everyone just like I love you.

John 13:35 - The way that people will know that you are my disciples is if you love one another.

John 13:36 - Simon Peters said to him, Lord, where do you go? Jesus answered, Right now, you can’t go where I go, but later you will be able to follow me.

John 13:37 - Peter asked him, Lord, why can’t I go with you now? I will give my life for you.

John 13:38 - Jesus asked him, Will you give up your life for me? I will tell you the truth, The rooster will not crow, until you have denied me three times.
