John 10:1 - In all truth I tell you, the man who does not enter the sheep pen through the gate, but instead climbs over at some other point, is as good as a thief and a burglar.
John 10:2 - The man that enters the house through the front door is know as the shepherd or the leader of the sheep.
John 10:3 - When the door opens and the sheep hear his voice, he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
John 10:4 - Sheep follow their shepherd because they recognize his voice.
John 10:5 - They won’t follow a stranger. They will run from him because they don’t know his voice.
John 10:6 - Jesus used this analogy with them, but they couldn’t understand his analogies.
John 10:7 - Jesus said to them that He was the door of the sheep.
John 10:8 - All that came in front of me are thieves and robber, yet the sheep did not hear them.
John 10:9 - I am the way: anyone that choses me, will be saved.
John 10:10 - A thief only comes to steal and kill and destroy. I have come to give them a better, richer life.
John 10:11 - The good shepherd is me. He spends his life on the sheep.
John 10:12 - However he is for hire, he isn’t someone who keeps watch over the sheep as a shepherd would to protect them from a wolf, instead he would run away and let the wolf scatter the sheep to the winds.
John 10:13 - The owner works 24/7 while the employee punches in and out on the dot.
John 10:14 - I know my people and they know me because I am a good leader.
John 10:15 - As the Father knows me, I also know the Father; and I lay down my life for my flock.
John 10:16 - I have other sheep that are not part of this flock. I need to bring them too and speak to them. Then there will only be one flock and one shepherd.
John 10:17 - Through my Father’s love I can lay aside my current life in order to receive it back again.
John 10:18 - This commandment I received of my father is I have power to lay it down
John 10:19 - These proclamations once again divided the Jewish people.
John 10:20 - Many of the people said he is crazy, why do you listen to him?
John 10:21 - Other people said this is not the work of a devil, would a devil heal the eyes of the blind?
John 10:22 - In Jerusalem it was winter, and the feast of the dedication.
John 10:23 - Jesus went into the temple on Solomon’s porch.
John 10:24 - Then the Jews came up to him asking, Why keep us guessing? Simply tell us if you are the Christ.
John 10:25 - Jesus replied to them, I spoke to you and you did not believe me: the actions I perform are done in my Father’s name, they show who I am.
John 10:26 - But you don’t believe, because, as I told you, you are not part of my flock.
John 10:27 - My sheep know my voice and I understand them, so they follow me:
John 10:28 - I will give them life that lasts forever; they will never die, nor will anyone take them away from me.
John 10:29 - My Father who gave me to them, is greater than anything or anyone, and no one can take them from my Father.
John 10:30 - My Father and I are the same.
John 10:31 - Then the Jews picked up the stones to stone him again.
John 10:32 - Jesus replied, Of all the fine works from my Father I have shown you, which one am I being stoned for?
John 10:33 - The Jews answered him and told him we do not kill for good works, we kill for lying about God and pretending to be him.
John 10:34 - And when Jesus answered, he said to them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
John 10:35 - If he said that you are gods that recieved the word of God, it must be so.
John 10:36 - Are you saying to the one who God purified and sent into the world, You liar; because I said, I am God’s Son?
John 10:37 - If I do not follow the great work of my Father, then you have no reason to believe in me.
John 10:38 - But if I do, even though you don’t believe in me believe the things that I have done. This way you will know and believe that God is in me and I am in him.
John 10:39 - So they tried to grab him again but he escaped
John 10:40 - And he traveled again beyond Jordan to live in the place where John was first baptized.
John 10:41 - People came and complained about John to him, while John spoke only the truth to them about him.
John 10:42 - And many of them who were there believed in him.
