John 12:1 - Jesus went to Bethany six days prior to the passover, this is where Lazarus was, a man that Jesus had raised from the dead.
John 12:2 - At home they fixed dinner and Martha brought the food to the table. Lazarus joined them at the table and sat with Him.
John 12:3 - After which Mary brought a pound of expensive spikenard ointment and anointed Jesus’ feet with it, and used her hair to wipe his feet: and the smell of the ointment permeated the house.
John 12:4 - He would be betrayed by one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, son of Simon; Judas said,
John 12:5 - How come we didn’t sell this stuff for what it is worth and give that money to people in poverty?
John 12:6 - He said he didn’t care about poor people at all because he was nothing but a common street thief toting his filthy, stolen lucre around town.
John 12:7 - Jesus then said, Leave her alone: she has been keeping this to ward the day I am buried.
John 12:8 - You will always have the poor with you, but you may not always have Jesus with you.
John 12:9 - Many of the Jewish people realized he was in that place; and they did not approach him just to see him but so that they might get a look at Lazarus, the man who had been resurrected from death.
John 12:10 - But the highest priests met hoping to decide to also kill Lazarus;
