16:21 - The dogs licked the rich man’s sores because they wanted to be fed the crumbs from the table.
16:22 - And when the time came for the beggar to die, he was carried to Abraham’s breast by angels. The rich man died too but he was only buried;
16:23 - And while going through the torments of Hell, he looked up and saw Abraham far far away with his arm around Lazarus.
16:24 - He cried and said Father Abraham, Have mercy, send me to Lazarus so he may dip his fingertip in water and cool my tongue because I am tormented in this fire.
16:25 - Abraham spoke to his son, telling him to not forget that in his life, he did receive many good things, just as Lazarus received many bad things: But after these things, he is now soothed, and I am now in torment.
16:26 - Besides all of this, there is a great chasm between us and no one can pass from you to me or from me to you.
16:27 - Then he said, I beg you then, father, to send him to my father’s house:
16:28 - I have five brethren; he can tell them about this place so that they will not have to come to this place of torment.
16:29 - They have Moses and the prophets, Abraham said to him. They should listen to them.
16:30 - He said, no, father Abraham, but if somebody came back from the dead and told them, they’d repent.
16:31 - If they cannot accept the evidence already given to them in scripture from Moses and the prophets, one more miracle will not persuade them.
