5:21 - The scribes and Pharisees started to reason with each other, asking, Who is this person telling lies? Who can forgive our sins but God?
5:22 - But Jesus could see what they were really thinking, and he replied, What do your hearts really say?
5:23 - Which is easier to say? You’re sins are forgiven or Get up and walk?
5:24 - So that you may be aware that the Messiah has power on earth to take away sins, (he told the person who was ill with palsy,) I am telling you to get up from the place where you are sitting down and go into your house.
5:25 - And he got up right away, and took his bed and went home, praising God.
5:26 - All the people were astonished and sanctified God and were filled with deep sorrow, saying, We have seen the indifferent things to-day.
5:27 - After that he went out and saw a tax collector called Levi sitting at his place of work, he said to him, Follow me.
5:28 - He then got up, and followed him, leaving everyone behind.
5:29 - And Levi invited him to a party at his own house; many of the other tax collectors and their friends came too.
5:30 - But their writers and Pharisees whispered behind his disciples backs saying, Why do you eat with publicans and criminals?
