Mark 6:21-30

Mark 6:21 - And on a suitable day, when Herod on his birthday had made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee ;

Mark 6:22 - And after the daughter of the aforementioned Herodias came and danced, and delighted Herodias and those around him, the king told the girl, Request anything you want from me, and I will give it to you.

Mark 6:23 - He swore onto her, Whatever you ask of me, I will give it to you on behalf of my kingdom.

Mark 6:24 - And she asked her mother, What should I request? And she advised her to ask for The head of John the Baptist.

Mark 6:25 - Salome told Herod that she had decided what she wanted–she wanted Herod to have John the Baptist beheaded and to have the head given to her on a platter.

Mark 6:26 - The king would not reject her since he had made a promise and wanted to protect those around him.

Mark 6:27 - The king sent his executioner right away, and ordered that he bring the man’s head back; and the executioner went to the prison where he beheaded the prisoner.

Mark 6:28 - He brought his head in a charger, giving it to the damsel who gave it straight to her mother.

Mark 6:29 - And when the disciples received news of his death they journeyed to collect his body so as to lay it out in the burial place.

Mark 6:30 - And the apostles gathered around Jesus, and told him everything they had done and taught.
