Mark 6:11 - For those people who turn you away and refuse to listen, forget about them, for they will be held responsible and judged harsher than Sodom and Gomorrah on judgment day.
Mark 6:12 - And they went out and told others so that they might have a chance to apologize also.
Mark 6:13 - They did surprising things like casting out devils and healing the sick with the holy oil
Mark 6:14 - Because he was well known everywhere by now, King Herod knew of him also, and declared, John the Baptist who was dead is not now deceased, and because of this, the things John does speak mightily of his position.
Mark 6:15 - Some said, That’s Elias; and others said, He’s a prophet or He’s like one of the prophets.
Mark 6:16 - But when Herod heard about it, he said, It is John, who I beheaded; he has risen from the dead.
Mark 6:17 - Because Herod had had John brought in and imprisoned for the sake of his sister-in-law Herodias, whom he had married.
Mark 6:18 - Because John had told Herod, it is illegal for you to marry your brother’s widow.
Mark 6:19 - So Herodias was furious at him, and wanted to have him executed, but she couldn’t:
Mark 6:20 - John, being a fair and just man, frightened Herod as he watched him, because of these attributes; he watched as he performed many acts and was happy to learn about him and witness such things.
